Like ive said before, reducing the amount of water i use in a day and eectricity is easy and an effective way to help.
4. Following
I noticed that alot of people worked particularly hard on reducing the amount of water used which is good because it is an important resource we all need to learn how to preserve.
1. Consumption - What did you consume today?
Water - brushed my teeth / 10 minute shower / washed my hands / went to water bubbler
Food - pack of goldfish
Electricity - kept my tv off all day / only using computer for homework / keeping lights on only in the rooms im in at the time
Gas - commuter rail+bus to school / commuter rail home from school
$$Money$$ - 75 cents on a pack of goldfish
2. Reduction - In What areas of your current lifestyle did you try to scale back the use of specifc resources?
I focused on using the least amount of electricity as possible today, which was actually easier than i thought. i have not watched tv at all today / keeping the loghts off is easy
3. Sustainability - Are there any changes that you made to your daily routine that you could envision making for the long term?
Using less electricity is easy and something i can do for the long term. I’m still going to watch tv and use my phone and computer, but i can learn how to do it in small amounts so i dont waste so much electricity.
4. What did you learn from following the tumblr feed of your peers? Will you adjust your own actions because of this?
I see that people are doing what im doing and trying to conserve more energy on a daily basis. i am going to make sure that i make it a priority of mine to reduce wasting energy as much as possible
1. Consumption - What did you consume today?
Water - 15 minute shower this morning / brushed my teeth / washed hands / drank a bottle of water
Food - Chicken patty / ice cream
Electricity - used computer once not counting now / kept my bedroom light off all day
Gasoline - commuter rail to/ from school and a bus
$$Money$$ - $2.50 on a school lunch
2. Reduction - In what areas of your current lifestyle did you try to scale back the use of specific resources?
I cut back mostly on using electricity today. i kept turning off the lights in all rooms in my house until my parents would turn them back on. I also didn’t spend as much money as i usually do in a day .
3. Sustainability - Are there any changes that you made to your daily routine that you could envision making for the long term? Can you reduce your consumption permanently? Why or why not? Please be specific, and provide examples.
It is alot easier to cut back on electricity than i thought. Keeping the lights off until it gets dark and you are in a certain room should be easy. I also have a habit of leaving the tv on when i leave a room but today i turned the tv off in every room.
4. What did you learn from following the tumblr feed of your peers? Did one person’s actions reasonate with you in a positive way? Will you adjust your own actions as a result of their post?
I learned that most other people are learning how to cut back more on electricity as well. One good example that i saw was someone posted about not turning on the heat and wearing more layers in the house, which i think is a good idea to help save the amount of heat we’re using.
A social experiment, can we give up the unnecessary comforts of a 1st world lifestyle?
